El Grupo de Investigación "Riesgo Sísmico y Tectónica Activa" (RNM-370) está especializado en el estudio de los procesos tectónicos litosféricos, la sismicidad, y la relación entre ambos, fundamentalmente, pero no sólo, en el ámbito de las Cordilleras Béticas, la Depresión del Guadalquivir y el Norte de África. Otra línea de especialización es la referente al estudio de la peligrosidad sísmica incluyendo los efectos de sitio, lo que parte, entre otros, de estudios de comportamiento de la sismicidad actual, sismicidad histórica y Arqueosismicidad.
